January, 13th, 2009, Richmond, VA - Arena Racing USA, the only spectator-participating major league sport, announced today that Washington Redskins Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs will be appearing at the January 23rd Arena Racing event at the Hampton Coliseum. During his appearance, he will be racing Interstate Batteries Chairman, Norm Miller.
They will be competing in two identical ArenaCars for bragging rights between them and possibly the first race of its kind with a top NASCAR Sprint Cup Owner against his Sponsor.
“These guys are true racers at heart,” Arena Racing USA founder Ricky Dennis stated. “I would not be surprised to see some fierce competition between them.” The winner will be bragging for a while after this event for sure!” Dennis concluded.
Arena Racing will also be saluting the Military by offering ½ price tickets to all military personnel with an ID at the Box office and the evenings’ opening ceremonies will consist of an enlistment of new recruits into the Army.
Blake Murphy, CEO of the Hampton Roads franchise of Arena Racing, stated “The enlistment is a special part of our Military Appreciation Night. This will be the third one we have done, and to have Joe Gibbs and Norm Miller here will make it all the more special. This will be the 100th regular season race held in Hampton Roads and I cannot think of a more special way to mark that achievement than to honor the Military; plus the fans will be in for a special treat when Gibbs takes on Miller for the shootout,” concluded Murphy.
Tickets to the event and this special match race are just $10 for adults. In addition for each adult ticket purchased you will receive a free kids ticket (Children 12 and under).
